A new venue but the wrong date: the Nürburgring 1000 km (well, 750 km in fact) was more important to the works teams than the ETCC round, although the champioship points were only available here. So Ford only sent a semi works ‘73 car for young Ludwig and Waltraud Odenthal to Vallelunga, and it would have to deal with the usual contenders, like the Belgian BMW, the Faltz- and Alpina cars, the Jolly Club BMW and a Schnitzer car. The seventh competitive car was the British Camaro. The Précision Liegeoise car of Peltier/Lafosse took pole in front of the Camaro. After ten laps, Heyer with the Escort took the lead (!) but lost it later to the Jolly Club car.
