Car info:

Together with the GT cars, touring cars over 1600 cc started on the track. Strange, but since in the ETCC it was the other way around one could see why, especially on this long track.

On the driver front, Fitzpatrick had left Loos after some arguments, and returned to Kremer - while Schickentanz was dumped by Samson after his form was far from last year’s. Loos had another new driver: Jody Scheckter, who deformed one Carrera - Loos decided not to start.

Fastest after practice was Keller, but it was Ertl who took the lead in heat 1. But gearbox troubles ended his race soon. The Kremer pair won easily.

In heat 2, a rain shower set in right after the start. All favourites changed tires after lap 1 - apart for the Kremer duo, who both had left the road at the same place. Privateers, who had gambled on wet tires, now were in the lead. But Glemser in the 2-litre Ford soon took over after a swift stop, even increasing his lead lap after lap. But his engine said good bye in the penultimate lap, so no surprise victory for him. Instead, Bertrams won, but the points standing remained virtually unchanged.
