The small group 1 race had two surprises in store; neither Lammers nor van Dongen could win. Lammers was held up by an electrical problems, which cost him two laps to solve, and van Dongen could not keep up with Freek Hayes. By the way, the Rob Slotemaker’s Racing Team lost the “Team” designation, since Rob refused to pay an extra F 348,- including tax. But more important was the deserved victory of Bökenkamp. The group 2/4 race was interesting. Akersloot was back, but supposed to have serious lack of stamina after his illness. But while third in practice, he took the lead in the race after a few laps and never looked back. Siewertsen was second, Vermeulen third after gearbox problems. The big group 1 race had its fair share of excitement too; Slotemaker had a troubled practice and started from the back, while Frankenhout had the lead initially, followed by the fighting duo of Deen and Joosen - the Belgian driver finding his Waterloo in Panorama corner. |
