Missing from the prestigious Formula 1 support race were Akersloot, ill, and Berg, who had enough of the bad preparation of the Gerstmann team. Since Vermeulen broke his gearbox in practice, Siewertsen would have an easy victory. But Berg lent a ZF box to Vermeulen, so the BMW could take his pole position. After the start, Vermeulen took the lead with Janssen second; but the Datsun driver had to retire just a little later. Vermeulen could keep the lead, but Siewertsen closed in - though the top speed of the BMW finally enabling Vermeulen a well-deserved win. Han Tjan had a lonely victory in the 1300 class, after van Oorschot lost a wheel and Dijkstra fell by the wayside. The 1150 class was more interesting, Wim Boshuis winning with a Fiat coupé from Germany, Hettelder second. Loek Vermeulen was black flagged for dangerous driving, though this was not clear to everybody to say the least. |
