Carlo Facetti, sent to Senegal to "lend a hand" to the owner of a GTAm Autodelta, took part in the 6 Hours of Dakar for a race of touring cars and GTs partnering owner Demoulin. Facetti drove 5,5 of the six hours, only handing the wheel to Dumoulin when 9 punctures threw them back - the provisional circuit being very hard on the tires to such an extent that Dumoulin finished with 4 different tires. The race was won by the efficient Porsche Carrera of Bonemaison and Daumet, with Italian Senegal residents father and son Richetti second in their Daytona, with Facetti and Dumoulin third. The race attracted such a lot of interest that the Senegalese government made plans for a permanent circuit. |
