The first race on a circuit which was only halfway finished yet. Work had taken done until Saturday morning practice, but only half an hour later as planned the first practice could take place. The track did not include Panorama corner yet, but on other places the circuit was already improved considerably, like the widened Tarzan corner.

The first race was held on saturday afternoon, and was led by Jan Lammers - the 16 year old protégée of Rob Slotemaker. The obviously talented boy won his first ever race in front of Frans de Vos and Aloys Mattijssen. The “Simca Rallye 1 class” was won by another anti-skid instructor, Tonny Zwaanenburg.

Would the big Group 1 race be another whitewash for the Dutch National Racing Team? Not completely. Though Loek Vermeulen (Ascona) and Fred Frankenhout (Manta) won their class, the biggest division was for the Alfa Romeo GTV of Tom Coronel, who beat Rien Frankenhout in a Belgian Commodore.

In the small Group 2 class, Hub Nijsten was a late entry in his Abarth 1000; despite this, his car was well-prepared, and he led in front of Kok (Hillman Imp). Unfortunately, he had a big off a few laps before the end, so Kok had an easy victory in the end, just like Visser in the 1150 class.

The big Group 2 race had some surprising entries - and some DNA’s. Both Datsuns had troubles with parts which were not delivered in time. Nico Chiotakis had a brand-new Porsche Carrera RSR; Han Akersloot had bought Nico’s old car, a car with new 1973-bodywork but still on 13” wheels. It should not be a match for the Porsche - and it was not, despite a promising start. Hans Deen won the 1300 cc class, a good fourth overall, in front of Engeman in her 2-litre car.
