This year, the prime DRM championship had a visible influence on the Rundstreckenpokal; many teams and drivers of name did not bother anymore. Furthermore there was an ETCC race at Monza on the same day.
The 1150 class raced on Saturday; I suppose it was a last-minute decision to split the field from the under-850 cars. Franz’ new 5-speed Hewland gearbox broke, Langohr damaged a tire so Burkhardt (Fiat 128) won in front of Steinert (Escort)
Eichhammer and Lampe set off to won their class on Sunday, when the weather had changed to rain. One of the best fields was the 1000 cc class; however, the usual suspects Tubbesing and Wolf (both NSU) fought it out for the lead - Tubbesing won, the 1000 cc BDA Escort of Höller disappointed.
The 1300 cc class was an NSU play field again, probably due to the rain. Rechberg won.
1600 cc: Ringshausen in the Zakspeed Escort TC was most unlucky when he had to pit for fuel while in the lead. He finished 3rd still, behind Scherf and Götting, both BMW. The last touring car race was won by Joisten (BMW) in front of Weiss (Grab Capri), the latter finally promoted from his Abarth TCR, which he continued to use for hillclimbs. The 2000 cc class was won by Schormann (BMW), while the GT race was not very exciting with Hargarten winning overall.
