Few spectators but thrilling races and a spectacular crash were the keywords for this race. In the chicane just before start and finish, Rummel’s engine exploded, the car slid on its own oil, crashed into the barriers of the pit entrance, where the car became airborne, rolled and came to a standstill next to the race control tower. Rummel was unhurt. Fire extinguishers were used to such an extent that poor van Bonn crashed his car into the pit barrier as well - he could not see where he was going... |
