Group 2-only this weekend; finally, Slotemaker did pass scrutineering with a heavyweight BMW coupé. Hezemans’ 1971 1300 Alfa had been bought by Hans Deen, who left the Gouden Gids team and Berg turned up in his immaculate Escort RS. No sponsor yet, so Deen had to be careful with his car.
Rain had turned practice of the 42 cars into a lottery, but Hezemans had pole.
Despite the big field with lots of lapping the smaller cars, no serious incidents took place - but it would be wise in the future to split the field in two.
Hezemans took the lead after the start, followed by Akersloot, Chiotakis, Slotemaker and Boshuis. Ex-team mates van der Vliet and Deen battled it out on the track with advantage for van der Vliet until he had to give up with a holed piston - but Deen could not keep up with Boshuis, who won his class with ease.
Slotemaker dropped back with handling problems, and Chiotakis had taken over from Hezemans. Dijkstra had a nice lead in the 1000 cc class, but then had gearbox problems so Kok closed in, but at the line Dijkstra still kept a narrow lead to win the class. Strous recovered from a bad start, and one by one the Daf’s fell victim to the Trivellato-prepared Fiat.
Meanwhile Akersloot, fighting with oversteer, too had passed the Alfa Romeo of Hezemans, and the finishing order thus became Chiotakis-Akersloot-Hezemans, while Berg had retired.
