Pictures

The NAV had to look for another airfield track since Welschap was no longer available. They found one in Woensdrecht, where a track was laid out on the very abrasive concrete surface.
The race for the small group 1 cars was won by van Kempen, after an inspiring duel with Hugenholtz - the latter leaving the track after a now-or-never attack which went all wrong.
The big Group 1 race missed its favourite: the DNRT Commodore was given a little rest with hindsight to the Spa 24 hour (to no avail), but since Rien Frankenhout was ill, Vermeulen took over the Manta, won his class but left the overall victory to team-mate Fred Frankenhout in the Ascona. Bert Dolk was third, after a big fight to stay ahead of a few Alfa Romeos. He did a fine job with the big car on the narrow track, but was criticised since he was involved in the track layout - he and his private Porsche were the only ones who could try out the curves and chicanes. Koks and the Datsun got a fine second place in class behind Frankenhout.
The little screamers had a new car in the form of the DNRT Group 2 Simca Rally, a well-kept secret, and Huub Vermeulen was right on the pace - until he had to stop in lap 14 with a flat tire, waiting for winner Dijkstra to cross the line first. Luijbrechts (Daf) had the same problem, waiting neatly behind Vermeulen to finish third in class, which was won by Tjan, incidentally, after Strous retired. Overall winner was Dijkstra, as said, in front of Kok - who had rolled his car in practice but was able to take the start.
The big guns finally lost one of its prime entrants after practice; Chiotakis had wore all his tires out (!) but probably concluded he wouldn’t stand a chance against Hezemans, Berg and Akersloot anyway.
Hezemans had been fastest in practice, but Berg was away fastest and took the lead for the first two laps. Then he lost his fan belt, and rising temperatures finally caused him to retire. Akersloot was in front now, followed by Hezemans in spectacular style. But the sheer horsepower of the Ford were too much for the elderly Italian machine, and after a final attack in lap 7 he had to consolidate for second.
Boshuis could stay ahead of Deen (now with a little sponsorship), though van Oorschot, back in the frame, was the sensation of the class until he damaged a rim and had to retire.
