New regulations meant that for some cars the rear dics had to be replaced with drums, but more important was that timed practice was on Friday only and when some other teams (notably Geoghegan and Bob Jane) came back from sightseeing, Moffat had secured pole and now the track was wet.
Moffat took the lead in the race, followed by the trio of Jane, Beechey and Ramsay and they were followed by Geoghegan who had pitted in lap 1. The latter retired soon, and Beechey did likewise when a piston gave up. Moffat won, Jane was a distant second and third finished local boy Ramsay, while the 2000 cc class was won by Stillwell.
