Prospects for a really grand thrash in the 20 lap fourth round of the Wiggins Teape Paperchase/RAC Saloon Car Championship never materialised as Frank Gardner's SCA European Road Services Chevrolet Camaro ran away from a field headed by Brian Muir in the WT/Gartlan Capri. On his way to a 7.6 second victory in the 5.7-litre Camaro raced by SCA last season, Gardner knocked a tenth of a second off the outright Group 2 record he held jointly with Muir, and left the fastest lap average at 110.68 mph. |
