A Group 1 festival at Zandvoort; a new idea was to split the complete Group 1 entry in half, staging two heats of which the fastest cars could take part at the final. Since there was no official championship anyway, this kind of experiment could take place. In Group 2, Akersloot won the battle from Chiotakis; if Chiotakis had not had fuel feed problems, he would probably had tire troubles with the high tarmac temperature. Slotemaker had a bad start and could not keep up with the Fords anyway - and Hezemans, fresh from the Targa Florio had to start from the rear. Despite the 5 seconds delay for those without practice time, Hezemans already had passed some 15 cars at the Hunzerug, but then lost his gearbox and retired. |
