The race for Group 1 under 8500 guilders had yet another fight between the two Fiat 128’s and the escort Sport of Hugenholtz - who won. The other Group 1 race was, of course, dominated by the Dutch National Racing Team; since Rien Frankenhout was still ill, he was replaced by Huub Vermeulen in the Manta, while brother Jim despite a sore back drove the Commodore. A bad start meant that Coronel had an early lead, but thing went back to normal at the finish.
Hezemans did not enter his normal Alfa GTAm; maybe because of his intention to quit his Alfa Romeo contract, Alpina gave him a BMW coupé, with hindsight to the forthcoming 4 hour race not a bad idea. Hezemans duly delivered a pole with 1.36,1, fastest touring car time ever. Slotemaker’s Alpina customer car (still on 13” wheels) could not go any quicker than 1.39,8, and when Hezemans tried the Alimpo car he was hardly any faster but ruined the engine in the process. Exit Slotemaker. So Chiotakis now only had two worries: Akersloot and Hezemans. After the start, Akersloot took the lead but soon disappeared in a cloud of smoke; the oil sump gasket had blown. Chiotakis passed Berg (who had made a good start), but Hezemans was way too fast.
The 1300 class had a short fight between Boshuis and van Oorschot; but then Boshuis dropped back with a sick engine, and was passed by Deen. Alas, van Oorschot had to retire, handing class victory to Deen. While Dijkstra had an easy victory and a championship in the 1000 cc class, Strous had a clear victory over Tjan’s Daf, reducing the championship gap to 6 points.
