The Dutch might hate it, but the entry of Nivelles included two Pantera’s and two Ferraris... First practice was a dead heat with Fitzpatrick, but the second practice gave Müller and his Pantera pole. Müller took the lead after the start, followed by Jacquemin in another Pantera and Fitzpatrick. The Kremer Porsche fell victim of overheating tires, while Ekberg stormed through the field on his old Goodyears, finally passing Fitzpatrick for third. The fast circuit suited the Pantera’s, which were faster on the straights and lost hardly anything under braking. A 1-2 for De Tomaso therefore, with Ekberg third. Haldi had retired, while Ballot-Lena was only 12th with a sick engine. |
