Peter Gregg started his stranglehold on IMSA in style, since he won the opening round overall, partnered by Haywood, in his VW-Porsche 914/6 GT. Although Heinz in the Corvette was faster, he had to make a pit stop after a spin, to repair his bent clutch arm. Heinz had built up an early lead (33 seconds after 22 laps), but Gregg closed in again until he was 9 seconds behind, waiting for the error - which finally came. |
