The result was a race that became a procession after some promising practice times. Brian Muir in the Wiggins Teape/Gartlan prepared Camaro, now with 5.7-litre of Chevrolet power, set the first ever 100 mph+ lap for a saloon car at Snetterton, recording 1.36,6 and pulverising the Pierpoint-Gardner best by 3.2s!
