A great weekend, which started with the small group 1 race - like last year, it was decided to split the group 1 field. The other Group 1 race was won by Rien Frankenhout (Kadett 1900) who had a big lead over his fellow competitors. The first signs of the DNRT Group 1 preparation were clearly visible. His brother Fred was second in the other class (Hempenius won) with the unlikely Mazda 1300 amidst the usual bunch of NSU TT’s. Another DNRT prepared car, of course, though a protest was entered against the forceful driving of Fred. Unsurprisingly, the Commodores were not present yet again, but the others had a terrific race. Hezemans had not practised like on Easter (he had other commitments) so he had to start from the back - Chiotakis was on pole, Engeman second and van der Sluis on the front row too. |
