Airfield races were always supposed to be relatively safe. But this turned out to be not the case at Neuhausen, a track with a notorious lack of overtaking space.
Austrian Franz Albert left the track while braking for a curve, and the grass did little to reduce his speed - even worse, the car was uncontrollable and hit three soldiers (track marshals this weekend) - all three were killed. No other races were started afterwards, so this race would not count towards the championship.
The reports on this race were understandably scarce.
The 1600 cc race was a three-way battle between Schommers, Struckmann and Beilharz, the latter preparing his own engines - not badly, it seems. He even went in front after the start, but had to settle for third late in the race while a war raged between Schommers and Struckmann. Schommers held the upper hand, but was disqualified after the race for forceful driving.
Peter Boden was the fastest man of the 1150 class, leaving his competitors suspicious about his engine.
The 3000 cc race was won by Mass of course, beating Fröhlich’s Opel and another Capri of Fritzinger - whose car still was in good shape, having competed in the Monte Carlo Rallye earlier that year.
No Schmarje in the 2000 class (his only engine blew in practice), but Helbling still managed a Ford win while Obermoser had a tough fight with Schüler for second - which he won.
