The only championship race outside West-Germany took place at Zolder. On Saturday, the first two races were held.
The under-850 race had its aces in the form of Weiss (850) and Eichhammer (700). While Weiss duly won, Eichhammer had to retire enabling Siebert a win.
The 1300 class was spectacular as always. Memories of 1969 befell the spectators, since the Zakspeed Escorts finally were on form, battling it out with each other, finally with Menzel the winner. Third was the Spiess-NSU of Bilz.

Sunday the 1000 cc cars opened the meeting, and NSU had a bad day since even the absence of Abt and Trettau could not prevent a victory for the little Italian car: Casteel and Machatius went over the line first and second. The 1150 class was won by Schruf.

Hegels won the 1600 class without any opposition, the start of the 2-litre cars saw Stuck and Heyer in front, followed by Becker and Braun, then the first Alfa Romeos with Hessel and Mohr. Braun retired soon, and Stuck fell back, retiring eventually. Heyer, in his first ever race with Koepchen’s spare car, took over, followed by Thoridt, but now the Alfa Romeos had found their speed, so Hessel finally grabbed second. The big GT cars, sharing this race with the 2-litre Touring Cars, was a fight between Wetzel and Fröhlich once again; Wetzel had a small lead, but in lap 10 the Corvette started smoking - a bad habit, especially for a racing car. He had to reduce speed and could only salvage third behind Fröhlich and Schickentanz.

The last race was for the remaining GT Cars; Loos had to win this time, depriving Kastner of 3 points (he came second); the 1300 class saw a painful retirement of joint championship leader Schulze-Schwering.
