Frank Gardner had a bit more luck with the fabled Boss Mustang than he did with his F5000 Lola, and won the saloon car race by overtaking Brian Muir's quick-starting Chevrolet Camaro. Chris Craft had to start from near the back after a practice engine seizure and after gearbox bothers his Broadspeed Escort TC was left with second place in the 2-litre class behind Mike Crabtree, who drove a great race into fourth place behind Dennis Leech's misfiring Mustang.
