The GT “race within the race” of this 2-litre sportscar race was won again by Porsche, with the 1600 cc Alpine of Schulze-Schwering fourth. The 1300 cc touring car class was won by Gleich in his Alfa Romeo after both Zakspeed Escorts had technical troubles, causing them to either retired or drop back. Menzel’s practice time of just under 10 minutes were a small sensation, but he retired with a broken alternator belt. Koepchen won the 2-litre battle with Stuck (Koepchen) beating Huber (Alpina), while Furtmayr (Schnitzer) retired early with Becker (Wiegmann/Schnitzer) and Christmann retiring too. 1600 leader Lenk crashed at Breidscheid after hitting the bridge. |
