A double victory for Roger Penske and his Camaros; and Donohue cemented the championship with his win, with Bucknum second. But it was not as easy as it seemed; for the first 25 laps it was Parnelli Jones who led, but when Donohue came out of the pits just ahead and braked a little early for the curve, while Parnelli Jones arrived at full speed - and crashed into the back of the Camaro. The result was a damaged radiator and a spin - then Parnelli Jones waited for Donohue and rammed him, before finally giving up - otherwise, he would have been taken out of the race anyway.
