A new season and some fresh faces. The first race, for standard cars under 850 cc, saw Radio Veronica DJ Knauer in the lead at first, but Grootveld soon took over and on. More excitement in the other standard race: Schorr touched leader “Cento” at Bos uit, left the track and rolled into retirement. “Cento” was first at the finish but not the winner: his car missed the spare wheel, which “Cento” was told by NAV official David van Lennep to be legal. But this was the case for group 5 only; so “Cento” was disqualified and furious. Another blamage, this time for Hans Kok; he ran out of fuel after 7 laps (!) in second position. Finally, Jongejan won, the class victories were for Rien Frankenhout (1150, slipstream finish) and Hagman (1000). The big group 5 class: Hezemans fastest, van Lennep close behind for all of the 10 laps. Slotemaker came third, sideways even after the finish. Keizer looked like being able to follow too, until he crashed out. |
