While Seiler took the lead in Rennen 1 with his Porsche, behind him there was a fight between Weigl and Kaiser which was decided only when Kaiser had a monumental spin entering the Motodrom. Koch, with his Group 2 Porsche, managed to finish a fine fifth overall, ahead of the GT Porsche of Spiess.
Rennen 4 was even better with works entries for Rhodes and Handley (Mini), fighting German opposition consisting of another Mini for Schmarje and the Alfas of Schüler and Mohr. The 1600 class had its stars in the form of Gundel, Kretschi and Mass, al with Alfa Romeo 1600 GTA.
Swiss Kretschi, virtually unknown in Germany, had a fine race and beat local boy Mass, while Mohr could keep the Minis at distance on the straights, but they closed the gap at the braking zones and in the curves. Schmarje, who held the upper hand against Mini ace Rhodes, unfortunately broke his windscreen in the last lap. But the winner of the race was Schüler; he had taken the lead right after the start and let the others do the fighting.
