The yearly airfield races brought a disappointing entry for the standard touring cars. The small class was won by Cleutjens (Mini), in front of Visser (Mini) and “Cento” (Fiat). The next race brought more entertainment: Boshuis had a fight with three Opels, and since leader van der Pol had a puncture in the last lap Boshuis won. The 850 cc group 5 race was an easy victory for Swart after van Staalduinen retired with an oil leak. The next race, 850-1300 cc, was more eventful. A championship was at stake, favourites were SRT’s Dudok van Heel and Oskamp. Dudok van Heel was fastest in practice, in front of Oskamp and Dirks, and took the lead. When Oskamp braked too late in the chicane, he touched Dudok van Heel who found himself in the straw bales afterwards. Oskamp now was in front, while Dudok van Heel crawled back to third. But after Oskamp took the flag, he was disqualified - meaning the race victory and title went to the dark horse Dirks! The last race of the year was for group 5 over 1300 cc. Koster retired in lap 1, leaving the race to van der Sluis with the SRT Porsche, with Chiotakis second in the SRT Alfa. The big class was won by Akersloot in a Lotus Cortina with a blower - therefore in the same class as Slotemaker, who drove spectacular in his Mustang but could not keep up with the nimble Cortina. |
