In the morning, the race for division 1 took place; the usual Abarth parade, of course, flavoured with the occasional Mini. Since many of them fell by the wayside (since they did not follow Abarth’s orders to take it easy and let Goedemans win), only Schetty and Goedemans survived but in second place it was the Mini of Handley! Division 2 and 3 had a combined race, with the fight between Alfa Romeo’s compressor GTA and Porsche; there were no Cortina’s entered, and BMW was too late with its homologation. Alfa Romeo won the 1600 cc class as a consolation, and the 1300 cc subdivision was surprisingly won by Lancia; the Alfa Juniors and the works Coopers were beaten. |
