In the morning, the race for division 1 took place; the usual Abarth parade, of course, flavoured with the occasional Mini. Since many of them fell by the wayside (since they did not follow Abarth’s orders to take it easy and let Goedemans win), only Schetty and Goedemans survived but in second place it was the Mini of Handley!

Division 2 and 3 had a combined race, with the fight between Alfa Romeo’s compressor GTA and Porsche; there were no Cortina’s entered, and BMW was too late with its homologation.
The Indianapolis start was a joke - the field was sent straight to the banking despite the chicane which was just in front of it. Schüler misjudged his braking on full tanks, crashed into the barriers and overturned. While he crept into safety through the shattered front window, the car caught fire and burnt like a torch. Stenzel had to take avoiding action and hit the rails as well, and when he ran into ingition troubles and finally the starter gave up, the car was withdrawn and the second compressor Alfa was out.
Only the Kelleners Group 5 Porsche completed the race, and he was challenged by Group 2 Porsches with 40 HP less only; Bianchi retired and Baghetti crashed after a puncture.

Alfa Romeo won the 1600 cc class as a consolation, and the 1300 cc subdivision was surprisingly won by Lancia; the Alfa Juniors and the works Coopers were beaten.
