The high-speed track (despite its chicane) favours powerful cars with suitable gearing - not always available within the limits of Group 2...
Eichhammer won his class, after two races with rather less fortune. Schmarje’s Mini was not really suited for the AVUS track - two Alfa Romeos finished in front of him, but he issued a protest. Eckhardt’s car was legal, while Gleich refused inspection and was disqualified.

Schultze had 13 competitors in his class, but none of them could make any impact on the champion. Wisskirchen needed only one fast lap to get enough distance between him and his classmates, but Panowitz had his work cut out. Being the only starter in his class, rules forced him to finish in less than 105% of the time of the next class. He was helped a little by the retirement of Marschke, but despite Ernst fighting with a bonnet which opened from time to time, the 105% was out of reach - so no points for the NSU driver.
