Ben Pon in his Porsche had won his heat with ease, and had lapped faster than anyone else. So the final would be an easy race for him.
Though Trosch was first away at the start, Pon had settled this right at the first corner. He went out of sight - and returned the first lap in 20th place, after a spin. Headlights ablaze, he sliced through the field. After lap 2, he was 13th; then 8th, 6th, 5th, 4th and third, behind Demoulin; after 16 laps, Pon had closed in on the Alfa’s 2 or more seconds a lap. He now was 3 seconds behind leader Trosch, and in lap 17 he was second. He would take the lead for sure, but Trosch overdid things and spun. A fine victory for Pon.
