Though Josef Schnitzer had hung up his helmet, Schultze returned to the championship with a new Autodelta GTA. The homologation of the Porsche 911 as a touring car seemed to make any opposition oblivious in the 2000 cc class, though rumour had it that BMW would think of something - and indeed a car was entered under the IGFA banner with driver ”X”. The car arrived at the circuit, “X” turned out to be Hubert Hahne himself - but the car never left the pits, BMW probably voting against it.
Von Wendt’s Mitter-prepared Porsche blew away the opposition in quite a dull race, and the GT race was equally unexciting with Neuhaus winning. More excitement during practice, where Bryzmann destroyed his brand-new 911 S and came away with only bruises while Schaumann was less fortunate when he crashed yet another Porsche.
Eichhammer underlined his position as championship contender with a win by a big margin over his 700 cc class companions; and besides von Wendt another title candidate was Schultze, once again. Last of the contenders was Bodmer in his Glas GT, another class winner by a big margin.
