Fastest overall was Leo CelIa in the Lancia Flavia, but the man of the moment was Tom Trana (Volvo 122S) who, including a spin, took only 9,9 seconds less than the fastest saloon, setting a new record of 14.45,1 in the process.
In the 1,000 cc class there was a protest, for John Aley (Mini-Cooper), after a very rapid climb, was credited with fastest time ahead of Hans Herrmann in a works-entered Abarth I000 TC. As a result, a full minute was added to John's, time which dropped him to third place but as the others were not entered in the Challenge, this did not affect his position. Another competitor to benefit from the fact that the cars were not all entered in the Challenge was Christabel who, despite finishing second behind an Alfa Giulia, scored maximum points. Trana (Volvo), Leo Celia (Lancia Flavia), Luigi Cabella (Lancia Flaminia) and Claude Barbier (Jaguar 38) all won their respective classes.
