Sensation in the USA: Ford Cortina’s came first and second the the Marlboro 12 hour race, beating the other 18 out of 32 starters.
After the start, the big Falcons took the lead but they ran into troubles; one of them retired, the other one finished third in the end. The Volvo’s, victorious in 1961 and ‘62, looked like taking over; but the Tattersall/Svensson car lost a gear while the other one retired.
So the Cortina’s came into the fray, the Willment car of Olthoff/Sears taking the lead n the 9th hour. The Alan Mann car of Blumer/Taylor came second, the remaining Falcon finished third.
