Again, the classes were divided by performance, which made things difficult to follow - perhaps that was the reason the number of spectators was disappointing. The first race had some excitement with a battle between Oskamp, Vermes and Hildebrand, but when the latter disappeared in the pits, Vermes increased his lead with ease. The fight between Dick ‘t Hooft (Fiat 600) and the VWs of Gijs van Lennep and Henk Post was spectacular as well, the Fiat winning this battle. The second race had a fight between van Zalinge and Heidendahl, but this too was ended when van Zalinge retired. Jonker won the “Coupe Roosdorp” for the most spirited ride after his car refused to start and he had to chase the whole field. - a chase which ended on position 4 overall and second in class! |
