The build-up to the race was heated, but the race itself was more like a procession; 2 hours on a long circuit may have been too much for the “compact sedans”. Walt Hansgen pulled out a lead at the end of the race in his Jaguar, the Studebaker Larks giving a surprisingly good resistance, Curtis Turner eventually being able to finish second, splitting the Cunningham-entered Jaguars.
