In what turned out to be the most exciting race of the day Williamson took over the lead from Leston on the 2nd lap and proceeded to pull away. His ”highly tuned” A40 had arrived in a van, causing much adverse comment! Doc Shepherd passed Adams fast starting yellow A35 and then hounded Leston overtaking him on the penultimate lap.
