With the no saloon car race supporting the British Grand Prix at Aintree round 6 saw the saloon car contingent supporting the major F2 races.

The tiddlers race saw a battle royal between the A40’s of the flying Doctor and Williamson which ended when Shepherd blew up spectacularly at Kidney Bend on the last lap. After a “spirited drive” Threlfall’s Saab was third.

After one of the very first Formula Junior races in the UK and a stunning drive by Chris Bristow in the F2 race the big bore saloons saw another easy victory for Sir Gawaine. Haynes held 2nd initially then Uren took over for his customary class victory. Leston’s “ridiculously fast” Riley 1.5 took the remaining class and Alan Hutcheson appears in the results for the first time.

Alexander Conversions later ran an ad pointing out how their A40 was “one mph faster than the performance of a well-known 3 litre marque” !
