A
nice, atmospheric shot of the start of race 11 (Group 3 and Group 2/4
1000-1150 cc); long shadows, about 4 o'clock on Sunday afternoon, one
of the last races of the season. Apart from the Group 3 Porsches (with
Schornstein leading Schreiber) it is good to see Preukschat's Nothelle
Audi, a Leinberger Fiat and Hettelder's Fiat coupé.
Preukschadt won his class.
Gröner in his 1150 Simca finished 13th in class.
Gerhard Siekmann won the 1300 cc race.
For
some cars, it would be the last time we would see them; Germany had
stretched the Group 2 period for one more year, but now it was over.
This is the 1300 cc BDA Escort of Ochsenfort, who would finish third in class.
Vanierschot with his 1600 cc Alpine, a very quick little car - and a fine driver.
Paul
Wunsch in the Wienerwald Scirocco leading van Oorschot, who was about
to exchange the Spiess car for a Porsche 934. They would finish 2-3
behind...
... the Jägermeister car of Bergmeister.
Take a good look at this 1973 Capri - you won't see many of them in 1977. This is Gerd Ruch; we will hear more of him for sure.
Peter Pospiesczykin the Carrera RSR.
Werner Boller and his Escort RS; a 13" wheeled car.
Jean-Michel Vinachin with his Alpine A 110.
Maukisch in a 2002.
This is Karl-Heinz Becker's immaculate car, but I'm not sure who drove it.
Group 2 over 1600 cc. From left: Zweibaümer, Deutgen?, Conrad and Agosti.
Néri brought this car, better known for it Rallye outings. A Fiat 131 Abarth group 4.
With a serious engine.
A beautiful 15" Escort: Jörg Denzel.
Werner Schommers and his Escort II RS, normally driven in the DRM.
Roppes leading Schommers.
Bernd Ringshausen in his Escort II, I guess it ran in 2-litre form here.
Eddy Joosen in the Juma BMW CSL.
Bodo Jähn in a 1973 Capri RS.
Start of division 1 and 2. Krebs in the lead, followed by Evertz (who would win) and Neuhaus.
Krebs geting his first taste of Group 5 racing.
The second group: the leading car might be Holup, then Conrad, Dören, Joosen, unknown, Raus.
Raus fighting with Carrera #9.
As said, Evertz won the race...
... with Neuhaus a fine third.
Dören in an unusual car, the ex-Loos/Tebernum Carrera which they kept in 1976. Perhaps Dören's own car was already sold.
