The Slotemaker Alpina BMW had received an update; revised 15" suspension and new bodywork.
The two semiworks Capris (Malcolm Gartlan and Frami) split by the two Schnitzer BMWs, of which only one would survive practice.
Two shots
from the paddock: the #42 Filipinetti Fiat of Lafosse/Chenevière.
Chiotakis'
Capri - a very good-looking car. |
The cars
are moved to the starting grid. Here, the Skoda works team on the move. |
This is
an interesting entry: the mini of Tanny Boissevain and Gerard Schuiten;
I can't find them in any results. May have started as a reserve? |
On the
left a little part of the Frami Kent Capri, in the background the Dutch
Escort of Berg. |
A
beautiful prepared Filipinetti Fiat 128 Berlina... |
... and a
coupé. The sister car of Lafosse/Chenevière would finish a creditable
4th in class. |
Another
Dutch car - here is the Alfa Junior of Boshuis - which was driven here
by van Oorschot (!) and van der Pol. |
Two
Autodelta Alfa Romeo GTA Juniors - it was the last year we had a 1300
cc class, until it returned in 1976. |
In the
background the 1150 Daf 55
of Han Tjan, Dutch champion in 1972 - and destined for even greater
things in future. |
Row 3 on
the grid: two Alpina coupés; Lauda in a "works" car, next to him the
Dutch national car of Slotemaker, which he shared with Kelleners.
Row 6:
Luigi's first steps in the ETCC - they would be unbeatable by 1976, but
for now they managed to qualify just in front of a 1300 cc Alfa Romeo. |
Fourth
fastest in qualifying: the beautiful Schnitzer coupé of Stommelen and
Fitzpatrick. |
The
latest Alpina car was for Beltoise and Hezemans, the latter having a
journeyman season. Third on the grid and fastest BMW after the #8
Schnitzer car became a non-starter. |
A
1971-style Capri, again from the Dutch championship, for Chiotakis and
Bourgoignie; they qualified on row 4 and were fourth at the finish.
The
works-built Capri of Muir and Miles was on row 2; it would finish a
fine second. |
The #2
Capri in front of the Alpina BMW, the British Capri and a Schnitzer BMW.
Dini and
Boshuis would finish fifth overall, the Luigi BMW tenth.
After the
start interesting battles were started. A Dutch Alfa trio with a
Filipinetti Fiat in between them. |
And here
another trio: Autodelta Alfas. |
The Berg
Escort once again, with quite a soft suspension. |
Stommelen
very sideways here. |
Big
differences of the handling between two Alpina cars; Slotemaker with
lots of oversteer... |
... the
Hezemans car looks much better.
A fight
between the Muir/Miles Capri and the remaining Schnitzer BMW. |
Look at
that! Oversteer again. Must be Slotemaker, I'd say. |
But a
works Capri can drift too. |
Two
capris, one BMW. The Capri was unbeatable here. |
A Capri laps some backmerkers.
Unlucky
Peter Wisskirchen lost a wheel of his NSU TT.
The
winning Ford Capri of Glemser, Soler-Roig and Mass with... |
...
and without
company at Gerlach corner here. |
Now Rob Petersen's pictures from the back of the track. Here's the winning car again.
The Capri lapping the #46 Skoda.
Franck and Craft had to retire their Capri.
This unusual Capri was rather slow: 24th on the grid, but it finished 8th.
The single Schnitzer car could not repeat the 1971 victory; it retired.
Peltier/Xhenceval leading the #2 Capri.
Gaye and Braillard in the second Belgian BMW.
The
#37 Alfa of van der Vliet/Kiviet Alfa harried by the Hezemans/Beltoise
BMW; they pass the stranded Trivellato Fiat of Strous/Dijkstra.
Slotemaker laps the STAR-Daf of Tjan/Luijbrechts.
Beltoise (left) and Hezemans (right) shared this BMW until it retired.
Lauda and Pankl drove the other BMW, helped by Hezemans in the latter stages, to third overall.
Berg/Brodie in the Brut-Escort RS.
The same car, here headed by the Veronica Alfa of Dolk/Dudok van Heel.
Facetti/Picchi leading the #1 Capri and the Manta of Heine and de Vries.
Colzani/Venturi leading Muir Miles and yet again the #1 Capri.
Van der Pol and van Oorschot were an unusual combination in Boshuis' Alfa GTA.
Deen and Keizer leading the #33 Autodelta GTA.
The Manta of Heine/de Vries being lapped by the Alpina #12 car.
