In
1988, much was expected from the Nissan Skyline and the TWR-developed
Holden Commodore, but both failed to deliver; the Nissan was late, the
Holden SS package was homologated only in August. Brock
moving to BMW was big news, but since the championship only rewarded
overall placings the Sierra was the car to have. The best ones were
built by Dick Johnson, who duly won the championship.
