Group 2 had been replaced by Group 5, where Seat had a new car in form of the 131-2100. The field consisted of a few other Seats, a Group 2 Scirocco, some old Chryslers and the eventual championship winner Peņacoba and his Zakspeed Escort II RS in Group 2 form. Group 1 National was business as usual with the Seat of Marcos winning the title.
