The oil crisis had left a lot of Motor Racing in the cold - the ETCC was no exception. The 1974 edition had been bad; the 1975 edition was even worse. One six races were run eventually, the bottom limit of a FIA championship. No more works cars, hardly any new cars, a few rich privateers and a lot of amateurs. Alain Peltier, in each case a longtime contender, had the biggest wallet and together with codriver Müller became champion.
