The 1974 World Sportscar Championship was a fight between Matra and... little else really, Alfa Romeo and Gulf not able to keep up.
Like last year, the future group 5 field was visible - sometimes. To Porsches chagrin, the championship was postponed to 1976 - they were more than ready, as the 911 Turbo showed. BMW and Ford seldom entered, were able to defeat the Carrera's but not the turbo.
