The rules were changed from group 5 to Group 2, but the impact was not big, other than that the Porsche 911 was no longer eligible. The over 1000 cc class was dominated by Buch-Larsen, and in general the fields were too small and the competition not intense enough. The under-1000 cc class was very disappointing, only three races counted for the championship with very few participants. Kofoed (Imp) was the champion here.
The most successful class was an unfficial one: unsatisfied with the division in under- and over 1000 cc, which left the 1300 cc Mini Coopers out in the cold for instance, both circuits in Denmark organised an unofficial championship for cars under 1300 cc. Although Høyer won the class with ease, late season charges of Green and Belsø, both with Escorts, showed some promise for 1971.
