Danish Touring Car Championship

1968 index

Like 1967, there were classes for 0-850 cc Group 2 and two Group 5 championships for under 1000 cc and over 1300 cc.

The smallest class, 0-850 cc Group 2, turned into an Abarth affair with the added problem that the cars were nearly indistinguishable. The best of the bunch was Søgaard.

The under-1000 cc Group 5 class was a fight between Høyer (Mini) and Borch-Christensen (Abarth), but in the end Høyer did most of the winning and was the undisputed champion.

The Group 5 class over 1300 cc saw Engstrøm as the champion; he won most of the rounds in his Porsche, while the new Escorts of Buch-Larsen and Belsø were late and unreliable and Henriksen's BMW was only competitive after a trip to Germany for some new parts. Rasmussen (Alfa GTA) was disappointing. Fierce competition came from Sweden and Britain with Pierpoints' Falcon Sprint and Bornebusch (Porsche) both winning races.
